Description

This event will be of interest to those considering training in couple psychotherapy or any clinicians currently working with individuals, children and young people, and parents/carers, who have noticed couple relationship problems in the course of their work but felt less sure about how to address these.

Clinicians who undertake further training in couple work often comment on how rewarding and creative the experience is for the therapist and patients alike, and how it deepens their understanding of unconscious relational dynamics in a way that is different to individual therapy, where the therapist only hears ‘one side of the story.’

During the evening, Leezah will present some of the latest developments in couple psychoanalytic theory and also discuss her own experiences of working with couples and the ways it differs from individual work.

Leezah will also discuss her experience of working with a diverse range of adult partnerships (regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, living together or apart, with or without children, and throughout the life cycle), as well as the conscious and unconscious impact of discrimination within relationships (e.g. homophobia, racism, ageism, class, disability etc.).
