Psychotherapy Training Near Edinburgh

Train with the British Psychotherapy Foundation

The bpf is renowned for providing rigorous and intensive psychotherapy training, taught to the standards of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC) and the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

We offer part-time courses in Newcastle upon Tyne, a 1.5 hour train ride from Edinburgh.

With over 750 bpf members, those who study with us have the unique opportunity to join a lively community of professional psychotherapists and trainees from across the UK. Students also gain access to a busy schedule of networking and CPD events, as well as opportunities to get involved in the latest research.

This course exceeded all my expectations, and sufficiently impressed and enthused me to consider a future career in psychotherapy. On a personal level it has changed me; something that has been accelerated by beginning my own personal analysis. I find myself thinking about non-verbal communications much more as a consequence of having attended the course.

About the bpf

At the British Psychotherapy Foundation (bpf), it’s our mission to ensure psychotherapy is available to as many people who need it as possible.

With over 750 members, we are one of the largest psychotherapy membership and training organisations in the UK. We are also a charity. Our approach is based on the rich tradition of psychoanalytic and Jungian theory and practice, while also drawing on scientific advances in our understanding of the human mind and development.

  • We train therapists – through high-quality, intensive clinical training programmes.

  • We introduce potential trainees, other professionals and members of the public to the theory and practice of psychotherapy through introductory courses and events.

  • We organise a stimulating programme of short courses, seminars, lectures and discussions for our members as well as for the public.

  • We offer access to therapy though our Clinical Service, including our Low Fee Scheme

  • We provide a dynamic professional home for our members – with opportunities for professional development, information exchange and networking.
